Patricia Treib's Art Style

Treib's artworks are crafted around the allure of sensory details, omissions, and shifts in perspective. Drawing inspiration from diverse sources such as the silhouette of a sleeve in a Piero della Francesca fresco, the contours of a 35mm camera, a cornice, or a ribbon, her creations delve into the essence of the visual experience. Beyond mere references, Treib's true focus lies in the act of observation, a process through which she unravels new connections while deconstructing the familiar.

The spaces between forms take center stage as primary motifs, peripheral elements transform into central entities, and shapes hint at calligraphic movements. Working on an immersive scale, she completes nearly all her paintings within a single day, using the same composition across multiple works. This approach creates a familial bond among her pieces, despite variations in color, subtle nuances in features, or the expression of their elements.
