Biography of Chou Yu-Cheng

Chou Yu-Cheng was born in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1976. He received his BFA from the Department of Fine Arts at the National Taiwan University of the Arts in 1999. The artist continued his education, and in 2004, he completed studies at l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris, obtaining an MFA.

In 2007, Chou Yu-Cheng received a Post-Diploma AII from l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. One year later, in 2008, he completed the Research Program La Seine at l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.

The artist was honored with the Taipei Art Award in 2012 and the Taishin Visual Arts Award in Taiwan in 2011. Chou Yu-Cheng also participated in a residency at the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art (CFCCA) in Manchester in 2013.

Chou Yu-Cheng's paintings and other works have been exhibited internationally. His recent solo exhibitions include "Paper Folding" at TKG+ in Taipei (2023), "Chou Yu-Cheng" at Kate MacGarry in London (2022), "Sedimentary Gradient" at Gallery Weekend Beijing in China (2022), and many more.
