Eva Zhang
Eva Zhang, also known as Zhang Yi, is a contemporary Chinese artist who was born in 1989 in Chengdu and currently lives and works there. She received a master's degree in Economics from the University of Southern California and a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota.
Zhang's artistic practice largely centers around the use of fabrics. She uses fabrics to capture and shape the daily conditions and images of women in contemporary life. Her work explores the experience of women in Chinese society, particularly their roles and identities. Through her art, Zhang aims to raise awareness of the complex and diverse experiences of women and to challenge traditional gender stereotypes.
Zhang has exhibited her works in various solo and group exhibitions in China and internationally. Her solo exhibitions include "Eva Zhang: The Waiting Room" at the Long Museum West Bund in Shanghai (2021) and "Eva Zhang: The Puppet Show" at the Fosun Art Foundation in Shanghai (2019). Her group exhibitions include "Reunion Exhibition of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute in 2010" at the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts Museum in Shenyang (2019) and "Memory of the Future: 2018 Guang'an Field Art Biennale" in Guang'an, China (2018).
