Chaveli Sifre
Chaveli Sifre is a Puerto Rican artist who was born in Würzburg, Germany in 1987 and is currently based in Berlin, Germany. She is known for her work that explores healing practices, botany, and the belief systems constructed around them. Sifre is interested in the intersections between science, spirituality, perfumery, medicine, magic, and care, and she creates installations, scents, paintings, and performative rituals that aim to recover these long-lost connections.
Sifre's work often involves using botanical materials and fragrances to create immersive environments that engage the senses of the viewer. Her installations often include elements such as plants, dried flowers, and herbs, and she uses scents to create an atmosphere that is both therapeutic and meditative. Through her work, Sifre aims to create spaces that promote healing and well-being.
Sifre has exhibited her work at various international institutions and galleries, including TBA21's Meandering in Cordova, Spain, Welt ohne Außen at Martin Gropius Bau in Berlin, and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo and Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She has also participated in the Bienal Tropical del Caribe in Puerto Rico, Herbaria at the Centro de Desarrollo de las Artes Visuales in Havana, Cuba, and Las Antillas para los Antillanos at LACE in Los Angeles.
