Biography of Youyang Hu

Youyang Hu was born in 1995 in Wuhan, China. During his undergraduate studies at Shih Chien University (2014-2018), he delved into interactive installation creation and programming, which ignited his interest in the digitization and algorithmic processing of biological data.

This passion led him to the Graduate Institute of Network and Multimedia at National Taiwan University (2018-2021), where he explored various aspects of computational perception for both humans and non-human species in virtual and physical spaces. His exploration was further deepened during his independent research in Wuhan during the COVID-19 quarantine (2020-2022).

In 2018, Youyang Hu and Chiaochi Chou established Y2K, an artist duo. They explore the dynamic relationship between humans and plants, creating interactive experiences driven by biological signals to provoke thoughtful reflection.

Since 2022, he has been pursuing a Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo. As a member of the Yasuaki Kakehi Laboratory, he is actively advancing research and creativity, developing innovative paradigms within the more-than-human framework.
