Biography of Chiaochi Chou

Chiaochi Chou was born in 1996 in Taiwan. During her undergraduate studies at Shih Chien University (2014-2019), Chiaochi Chou incorporated living plants into her artistic creations and co-founded the Synphysica team with Youyang Hu. This interdisciplinary collaboration fueled her interest in life sciences, prompting her to pursue a master's degree at Tsing Hua University in 2019. Under the mentorship of Professor Chia-Wei Li, she developed the concept of the "Biological Internet of Things" in her thesis, exploring how biological signals can transcend the physical boundaries of nature.

She is currently a member of the Li Chia-Wei Laboratory at Tsing Hua University and is serving as a 2023 fellow with the Asian Cultural Council Taiwan Foundation in New York City. Additionally, she was a founding member of the laboratory at the Institute of Digital Sciences Austria x Ars Electronica Center.

In 2018, Chiaochi Chou and Youyang Hu established Y2K, an artist duo. They explore the dynamic relationship between humans and plants, creating interactive experiences driven by biological signals to provoke thoughtful reflection.
