Serwan Baran is an Iraqi painter and sculptor currently residing in Beirut.

Serwan Baran was born in Baghdad in 1968. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Babylon in Hillah, Iraq.

Throughout the 1990s, his artwork was featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions across Iraq. Notably, he received a youth prize in Baghdad in 1990, and clinched the first and second prizes at the Baghdad International Festival of Plastic Arts in 1994 and 1995, respectively.

In 2001, he took part in the Ayloul Summer Academy, a residency program in Amman, Jordan.

Following the American invasion of Iraq in 2003, he relocated to Amman. Later, in 2013, he settled in Beirut, where he continues to live and work. In 2019, he represented Iraq at the 58th International Venice Biennale with his solo exhibition, "Fatherland."

Serwan Baran's recent solo exhibitions include "A Harsh Beauty" at Saleh Barakat Gallery in Beirut (2020), "Indelible Memory" at Gallery Misr in Zamalek (2018), "Canines" at Agial Art Gallery in Beirut (2018), and many more. Additionally, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the Cairo Biennale (1999 and 2019), the Al-Kharafi Biennial (2011), and the 4th Marrakech Biennale (2012).
