Samuel Buri

Samuel Buri, a well-established artist from Switzerland, was born in 1935. He is represented by Galerie Carzaniga in Basel and has exhibited there twice - Paysages urbains in 2018 and The Carzaniga gallery at 2019. Switzerland has made significant contributions to the history of modernism, including the formation of the Dada movement in Zurich in 1916, and the pioneering of the 'International Style' of modernist architecture by Le Corbusier. Buri grew up during the Post-War period and was influenced by the artistic atmosphere of the time. The lens of modernism was focused on developments in New York City, where many leading creatives had gathered in exile from Europe, leading to substantial talent and idea pooling. The Abstract Expressionist Generation dominated the male-dominated environment of that time.
