Salman Toor
Salman Toor is a Pakistani-American artist who was born in Lahore, Pakistan, in 1983. He studied painting at Ohio Wesleyan University and received an MFA from Pratt Institute in New York City. Toor's work focuses on intimate portraits of South Asian and queer communities, often depicting scenes of everyday life, social gatherings, and private moments. His paintings incorporate a range of influences, including traditional Mughal painting, Western portraiture, and contemporary pop culture. Toor has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions at galleries and museums around the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the New Museum in New York City.
