Liao Fei's artistic practice is rooted in his inquisitive nature, prompting him to explore his environment and himself to uncover the essence of things through his creations. In contemporary times, scientific positivism has been crucial in shaping our perception of the world, with a binary system that underscores materialism prevailing as the predominant view of the external world. This perspective is grounded in the idea that substance exists independently of consciousness, a desire to classify and distinguish things resulting in a scientific approach that is clear, straightforward, and mechanical in its aesthetics.

Despite his affinity for beauty based on a binary system, Liao Fei remains wary of dualism. He has been engaged in artistic exploration since 2011, probing the essence of substance itself and gradually expanding his work to include the scales and systems established on a binary basis.
