Lam Pok Yin
Lam Pok Yin is a Hong Kong-based artist who was born in 1988 in Macau. He is known for his mixed-media works, which incorporate painting, drawing, and sculpture, and explore themes of displacement, identity, and memory.
Lam received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2001, and his Master of Fine Arts degree from the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London in 2005. He has since exhibited extensively in Hong Kong, mainland China, and internationally, including at the Venice Biennale in 2013.
Lam's work often draws on his personal experiences of migration and cultural dislocation, exploring the tension between his Chinese identity and his experiences of living in Hong Kong and the West. He is also interested in the relationship between traditional Chinese art forms and contemporary artistic practices, and often incorporates Chinese ink painting and calligraphy into his work.
Lam's work has been well-received by critics and has been collected by a number of major museums and institutions, including the Hong Kong Museum of Art, the M+ museum in Hong Kong, and the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing.
