Guillaume Leblon's artistic practice is grounded in various integrative processes, blending elements of sculpture, performance, sound, and film within heterogeneous installations that offer dynamic reflections.

Biography of Guillaume Leblon

Guillaume Leblon was born in Lille, France, in 1971. He completed his studies at the École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, France, earning his diploma in 1997.

He furthered his career through various residencies, including at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam, the Netherlands (1999–2000), and the International Studio & Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York in 2008.

In 2011, he received a nomination for the prestigious Marcel Duchamp Prize.

Guillaume Leblon's recent solo exhibitions include "PARADE" at Palais de Tokyo in Paris (2022-2023), "The Traveler Walking on a tiptoe" at Nathalie Obadia Gallery in Brussels (2022), "America" at ProjecteSD in Barcelona (2019), "There is a Man and More" at SMAK in Ghent (2018), and many more.

Leblon's artworks have also been featured in numerous group exhibitions, including "The House Where You Live Forever" at Garage in Rotterdam (2019), "Or: Un voyage dans l'histoire de l'art au fil de l'or" at MUCEM in Marseille (2018), "La French Touch" at Artspace Boan in Seoul (2017), among others. 

Currently, the artist resides in New York, where he continues to work.

Guillaume Leblon's Art Style

Leblon crafts installations, objects, photographs, or films that redefine the function and perception of space. Employing straightforward interventions, he forges an emotional connection with interior spaces and domestic environments, evoking sensations of unease and subtle tension in the observer. His work revolves around dual concepts like inside and outside, surface and volume, model and object, movement and stillness, use and non-use, form, and content.
