Gonçalo Preto
Gonçalo Preto is a Portuguese artist from Lisbon, whose sophisticated pictorial technique creates a unique visual world. The artist's paintings are often characterized by their tense atmosphere, and his works are often parts of disconnected narratives that come together to create a cohesive whole.
In Preto's most recent works, his interest in the portrayal of vision and light has developed, as he plays with focus, proximity and abstraction. His paintings are masterful studies of light and space, challenging the viewer to question their own perception of the world around them.
His solo and two-persons exhibitions include: Untitled, with Santiago Reyes Villaveces, Ncontemporary Project Room, Milan (2020); Middle Finger Pedestrians, Galeria Madragoa, Lisbon (2019); LIMBO, Museu Carlos Machado, Ponta Delgada, Azores (2019); FRAG-MEN-TO, MADRAGOA ENCIMA, Galeria Madragoa; Lisbon (2017).
