Elena Damiani
Damiani's work delves into the conceptual importance of archives and the enduring presence of memory in a society that fears forgetting. This focus heavily influences her artistic practice and research, as she adeptly translates found materials into collages, sculptures, videos, and installations.
In contrast to conventional archives that follow historical-linear narratives, her work rejects structured order and instead hints at potential mental connections. She employs recognizable frameworks of traditional archives to evoke memories and expose the capacity to fragment and unsettle either recorded memory or the linear sequence of historical events.
