Benny Nemer
A Paris-based artist, Benny Nemer (born in Montreal in 1973) is a multidisciplinary artist, diarist, and researcher who creates work that fosters emotional connections with musical, botanical, art historical, and queer cultural material. His art encourages deep listening and empathic viewing.
Nemer's work is characterized by a variety of elements, such as audio guides, bells, bouquets, ceramic vases, enchanted forests, gay elders, gold leaf, imaginary paintings, love letters, madrigals, megaphones, mirrors, naked men, queer trees, sex-changing flowers, sign language, subtitles, and the voices of birds, boy sopranos, countertenors, and sirens.
Benny Nemer's work has been exhibited globally and acquired by prominent institutions such as the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, Polin Museum, Thielska Galleriet Stockholm, and National Gallery of Canada.
