Drawing upon photographs taken from diverse sources, Yuki Kimura's installation works persistently explore the interplay of time and dimension, synchronizing with the present space in which the installations have been situated.
Biography of Yuki Kimura
Born in 1971 in Kyoto, Japan, Yuki Kimura graduated from the Kyoto City University of Arts in 1996, obtaining an MFA.
Yuki Kimura has exhibited her works in numerous solo and group exhibitions worldwide. Notable solo shows include "COL SPORCAR SI TROV" at Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf (2022), "Reception" at Taka Ishii Gallery in Tokyo (2019), "Wardrobe Extensions Version 4" at Oracle in Berlin (2018), and many more.
Additionally, the artist has presented her works in group showcases, including "Mimesis" at Galerie Barbara Weiss in Berlin (2023), "Ann's Research" at Maxwell Graham in New York (2022), "The Manhattan Art Review" at JENNY’S in New York (2021), "Arrows" at Galerie Francesca Pia in Zurich (2021), among others.
Yuki Kimura's works have also been showcased at prestigious biennales such as the Daegu Photo Biennale (2018, 2012), the 30th São Paulo Biennial (2012), and the 6th International Istanbul Biennial (1999).
Her art found its home in various public collections, including the Aichi Prefectural Museum of Art, the Dallas Museum of Art, the IZU PHOTO MUSEUM, the Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, and the Vangi Sculpture Garden Museum, among others.
Currently, Yuki Kimura resides and works between Kyoto and Berlin.
