Valerie Krause
Valerie Krause's art delves into movement, posture, and gesture. Utilizing ordinary materials, she refashions them to a threshold where they explore a sculptural realm oscillating between solidity and fluidity, balance and gravitation.
Biography of Valerie Krause
Valerie Krause was born in 1976 in Herdecke, Germany. From 1996 to 1999, she took a Stonemason apprenticeship with Fritz Meyer in Düsseldorf. Later, from 2001 to 2007, she studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. In 2005, she also attended the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
In addition to her career as an artist, she also worked as a teacher. From 2010 to 2012, she held a teaching position at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf.
Furthermore, Valerie Krause participated in several residencies, including the Residency Program at The Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada (2004) and the International Residency at Récollets in France (2009).
During her career, Krause has received numerous awards, grants, and accolades, such as the "Leonardo Da Vinci" European scholarship for Italy (1999), the Audi Art Award for New Talents (2008), a work grant from the EHF "Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung" (2008), and a work grant from the "Stiftung Kunstfonds" (2017), among others.
Valerie Krause's notable solo exhibitions include "Glanz und Kömigkeit" at Kunst-Station Sankt Peter in Cologne (2016), "forming space / spacing form" at Galerie Greta Meert in Brussels (2015), "Shifting volume" at Galerie L21 in Madrid (2015), "Immaterial" at Galerie Rolando Anselmi in Berlin (2013), and many more.
Krause's works have been featured in numerous group exhibitions held at Galerie L21, Galerie Rolando Anselmi, A+B Contemporary Art, Galerie Ruth Leuchter, Museum Kunstpalast, Galerie Chert, Kaiser Wilhelm Museum, Museum Baden, among other venues.
Currently, the artist lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany.
