Stijn Ank's Art Style
Stijn Ank undertakes a comprehensive exploration of the interplay between matter and void, investigating the diverse ways contemporary sculpture can be defined in connection to its surrounding space.
Defining the confines of a selected space, Ank constructs molds using wood, aluminum, rubber, and clay, subsequently casting them in plaster. Throughout the casting procedure, he blends pigments with the liquid plaster, allowing the material to manifest its final appearance. The resulting works from this process embody a dual nature—fragile yet robust, delicate yet solid, as light as a feather yet as heavy as lead.
