Born in Seoul, Korea, in 1967, SoHyun Bae is a prominent American painter currently residing and working in New York.
SoHyun Bae's artistic journey began with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1990, where she spent her senior year abroad in Rome, Italy. Subsequently, she earned a Master of Fine Arts from Boston University in 1994 and expanded her academic horizons with a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School in 1997.
Her contributions to the art world have been acknowledged through various prestigious awards, including The John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship in Fine Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship in Painting, The Pollock-Krasner Foundation Inc. Grant, and fellowships at renowned institutions like Montalvo Art Center, Yaddo, and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture.
