Monica Heller

Mónica Heller is an Argentine artist born in 1975 in Buenos Aires. She is known for her work as a cartoonist, painter, and video artist, with a focus on themes such as gender, sexuality, and power dynamics.

Heller's cartoon and illustration work often explores feminist and queer themes, using bold colors and expressive lines to challenge traditional gender roles and stereotypes. Her paintings often feature surreal and fantastical landscapes, with vibrant colours and intricate details.

In addition to her 2D work, Heller is also a video artist, producing experimental films and videos that explore themes such as bodily transformation and identity.

Heller has exhibited her work widely in galleries and museums throughout Argentina and internationally, including shows in the United States, France, Spain, and Italy. She has also received several awards and grants for her work, including the National Award for Fine Arts from the Argentine Ministry of Culture in 2019.
