Lea Krebs's Art Style

In her creative process, Krebs begins by pouring multiple layers of paint onto a sheet of plastic, which is subsequently overlaid with the image carrier. 

The magic happens when the canvas or paper is peeled away from the plastic. What remains are dense, relief-like surfaces that bear the clear imprints of their own creation. These surfaces, with their intricate patterns and textures, result from a process that eludes the artist's direct control but is nonetheless guided by her artistic vision.

What distinguishes Lea Krebs's artwork is her deliberate selection of colors and their formal relationships. Before starting a piece, she engages in rough sketches and numerous material experiments, paving the way for abstract color topographies that she describes as 'guided coincidences.' This juxtaposition of intention and happenstance gives her work a unique tension, striking a balance between control and the unexpected.

While her artistic journey initially unfolded on paper, Krebs expanded her horizons by experimenting with canvas and other materials. Notably, she began casting individual form fragments using keramine and acrylic lacquer.
