Lawrence Hubbard
Lawrence Hubbard, also known as Rawdog, is a multi-talented artist, lecturer, and cartoonist from Los Angeles, born in August 1961. Drawing since he was three years old, Lawrence honed his skills at Otis Art Institute, UCLA, and Santa Monica College. In 1989, he co-founded Real Deal Comix with the late H.P McElwee. Real Deal Comix is currently published by Fantagraphics and has gained critical acclaim for its daring and unapologetic content.
In addition to being a cartoonist, Lawrence is also an accomplished painter, and his work has been featured in several exhibitions. He has also designed T-shirts for Stussy and skateboards for Patsy's and Deathwish. Furthermore, Lawrence designed the album cover for the 7 Days of Funk album, which was a collaboration between Snoop Dogg and Dam-Funk.
As a lecturer, Lawrence shares his vast knowledge of art and comics with students and aspiring artists. His expertise and insights have been invaluable in shaping the artistic careers of many young artists. Besides his creative pursuits, Lawrence is also involved with several non-profit organizations that promote art therapy and mental health awareness.
