Lara Schnitger
Lara Schnitger is a Dutch-American artist born in 1969 in Haarlem, Netherlands. She studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and later at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California. Schnitger's work spans a variety of media, including sculpture, installation, and performance, and often explores themes of feminism, power, and sexuality.
Her large-scale textile installations, which incorporate materials such as velvet, leather, and lace, have been exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world, including the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the Venice Biennale. Schnitger is also a co-founder of the feminist art collective "Sisterhood is Powerful," which has organized numerous exhibitions and events promoting feminist perspectives in the art world. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles.
