Marina Rheingantz
Marina Rheingantz is a Brazilian artist born in the rural region of Araraquara, Brasil, and based in São Paulo. She is known for her large-scale abstract paintings that depict landscapes and rural environments, exploring themes of memory, time, and space.
Her works often begin with sketches and photographs of specific locations, which she then translates into abstract compositions using a muted color palette and layers of brushstrokes. Her paintings depict rural environments, such as fields, forests, and rivers, but they are highly stylized and abstracted, with a focus on texture, line, and form. Rheingantz's paintings convey a sense of emptiness and desolation, reflecting her interest in the passage of time and the effects of human activity on the natural environment. Her works often feature abandoned or neglected structures, such as barns or sheds, which serve as metaphors for the transience of human existence.
Marina Rheingantz has had solo exhibitions at FRAC Auvergne (Clermont-Ferrand) and Carpinteria (Rio de Janeiro). Her work has featured in group shows at Estação Pinacoteca (São Paulo), Kunsthal KAdE (Amersfoort), FRAC Auvergne (Clermont-Ferrand), Casa da Cultura (Comporta), Hakodate Museum of Art (Hokkaido), Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro and Cité des Arts (Paris).
