Biography of Kathrin Kunz
Kathrin Kunz is a Swiss artist born in Basel in 1969.
Her artistic odyssey commenced in 1987 with the Vorkurs A at the School for Gestaltung in Basel. Following this, she embarked on a four-year apprenticeship as a Decorations Designer in Basel. In 1991, Kathrin Kunz delved into the world of Conceptual Art under the guidance of Roman Opalka at the International Summer Academy of Fine Arts in Salzburg.
Further formal education ensued as Kathrin Kunz immersed herself in the Free Fine Arts program at the School for Gestaltung in Basel, studying under Werner von Mutzenbecher from 1993 to 1996.
Her dedication to the craft was acknowledged in 1996 when Kathrin Kunz received a Förderungsbeitrag from the Aargauer Kuratorium and the Kiefer-Hablitzel Stipendium at the Messezentrum in Basel. Subsequent accolades included an Atelierstipendium at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, supported by the Aargauer Kuratorium in 2000.
Kathrin Kunz continued to thrive, earning an Atelierstipendium at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2006.
