Werner von Mutzenbecher's Art Style
Werner von Mutzenbecher's artistic endeavors extend beyond the canvas, delving into the realm of experimental films that, much like his paintings, eschew illusionary effects in favor of a focus on 'pictures.' His films, showcased in exhibitions such as Filmmaker’s Afternoon and Painter’s Night as part of The London Film Program and The Kunsthaus Baselland Film Program, serve as intriguing counterparts to his recent paintings.
In von Mutzenbecher's paintings, viewers encounter a striking emphasis on hand-painted lines, creating a visual interplay that induces a flickering effect within the geometrical formations. This unique characteristic introduces a cinematic dimension to his artworks, blurring the lines between traditional painting and the moving image.
