Kai Althoff

Kai Althoff is a German artist born in Cologne in 1966. He is known for his multidisciplinary approach to art, which encompasses painting, sculpture, drawing, and performance.

Althoff studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf in the late 1980s, and later moved to New York City where he became a part of the city's vibrant art scene. His work has been exhibited widely throughout the United States and Europe, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Tate Modern in London.

Althoff's art is characterized by its emotional intensity and idiosyncratic style. His works often combine elements of the personal and the political, drawing on a range of cultural and historical references.
