Gintautas Trimakas was born in 1958 in Vilnius, Lithuania. From 1980 to 1986, he pursued studies at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, specializing in Urban Construction, and earned a degree as a construction engineer.

Since 1986, he has been actively involved in group exhibitions and has presented solo shows both in Lithuania and internationally. He has been a member of the Lithuanian Photographers’ Association since 1989.

From 2001 to 2018, he taught photography at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (VDA), within the Department of Photography and Video Art.

Gintautas Trimakas' artworks are housed in prestigious collections such as the Lithuanian Art Museum, the Šiauliai Museum of Photography, MO Museum, the Finnish Museum of Photography, and the Museum of Art in Łódź, among others.
