Fauzan Fuad, born in Kuala Lumpur in 1987, is a self-taught painter and photographer whose artistic journey began under the mentorship of Yusof Ismail (Yusof Gajah) at the University of Malaya in 2012.
Fauzan Fuad's Art Style
Fauzan Fuad's artistic style is deeply rooted in Malaysian street and skateboarding culture, street art, punk, and the Western abstract-expressionism movement of the 1950s. Influenced by over two decades of skateboarding, he discovered his identity and artistic talent through the process of 'mark-making', finding inspiration in the intensity of urban experiences and the coexistence of contradictions. As Fuad himself describes, his art serves as a response to the objects and subjects that beckon him during his journey.
His work reflects the vibrant spectrum of colors and the 'raw' authenticity of street culture, capturing the essence of the urban landscape through various mediums, including spray paint.
