Biography of Faizal Yunus
Faizal Yunus was born in Malaysia in 1989. Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mara University of Technology (UiTM) in 2012, with a specialization in printmaking, Yunus has always been deeply influenced by his surroundings. Growing up amidst nature, he developed a profound connection with the environment, which continues to inspire his vibrant and dynamic works. His artistic philosophy centers on autonomy and the belief in an egalitarian society, which he integrates into his creative process by transforming everyday experiences into art.
Yunus' contributions to the art world have not gone unnoticed. He received the Malaysian Emerging Artists Award (MEAA) in 2019, organized by HOM & Galeri Chandan in Kuala Lumpur. Additionally, he was honored as the Resident Artist of 2018 at Rimbun Dahan, Kuang, Malaysia. His artworks have been showcased in notable exhibitions, including "Malaysian Art: A New Perspective" (2017) at Richard Koh Fine Art, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and "S.E.A. FOCUS" (2020) at Gillman Barracks, Singapore.
