Eline McGeorge's Famous Works
Eline McGeorge employs drawing, animation, sculpture, and collage to craft abstract narratives characterized by angular shapes and inspired by diverse source materials.
In "On Joined Flight Lines" (2018), she employs watercolor on fabric, utilizing a technique of tearing and re-stitching, which involves both destruction and repair. This work acts as a form of restitution for extinct animals and plants, with each figure painted and commemorated on fabric.
In her series of pencil drawings "Biomatic Notes 1-12 / On Joined Flight Lines" (2018), delicate lines and dots create cloud- or swarm-like forms, suggesting the emergence of new biomatic figures.
"Folded Space" (2012) consists of four large-scale prints that reflect McGeorge’s exploration of information loss and distortion in digital imaging. For McGeorge, this loss symbolizes the misrepresentation of information inherent in fragmented political and economic spaces.
Eline McGeorge's Art Style
McGeorge's work is grounded in research and material exploration, ranging from low-tech, improvised craft techniques to digital media, abstraction, and documentary methods. It includes texts, publication-based projects, and educational initiatives. Her practice is shaped by socio-political and environmental concerns, drawing inspiration from science fiction, feminist legacies, and practices of regeneration and self-organization.
She describes her video pieces as “moving still-drawings”—short-loop animations derived from drawings that integrate a range of resources, including found interview excerpts, radio transmissions, music, and British pound notes. Her style draws from Cubism, Futurism, and Constructivism.
