Christian Eisenberger
Christian Eisenberger is an Austrian artist who was born in Semriach in 1978. He is known for his use of cardboard, adhesive tape, and waste material to create sculptures, paintings, and other artworks. He studied painting at the Ortweinschule in Graz in 1999 and briefly attended Brigitte Kowanz’s Transmedial Art class at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna in 2000.
Eisenberger gained early attention for his cardboard figures, which he distributed on streets and in public squares around the world. He has since expanded his use of materials and mediums, including painting, sculpture, video, performance, street art, and land art. He often works with repetition, creating new series of artworks through constant iteration.
In 2002, Eisenberger opened a tiny exhibition space called "K2" in a flower bed in the village center of Semriach, where he exhibited miniature works of art created by artist friends. He gained further attention when he taped self-printed posters on the windows of established galleries before important vernissages.
Eisenberger has exhibited in art galleries since 2006, and has achieved success through exhibitions with gallery owners Viktor Bucher and Philipp Konzett. Since 2013, he has been represented by the Viennese gallery Krinzinger. Despite his use of abstract forms, the human figure remains a recurring motif in his work.
