Caroline Bachmann's Art Style
Bachmann's artistic language is one of subtlety and stillness, drawing inspiration from turn-of-the-century Symbolism. Caroline Bachmann's paintings aim to capture an infinite calm, offering a synthetic depiction of nature that mirrors eternity. Her artistic process is meticulous and contemplative. She spends hours on the shores of Lake Geneva, observing the ever-changing scenery and recording minute atmospheric details with a lead pencil on paper.
Back in her studio, Bachmann transforms these recorded moments into paintings, layering translucent glazes of oil paint over time to create works that are as rich in depth as they are in meaning. Her portrait series, initiated in 2014 and featuring women artists in her circle, follows a similar process. Preliminary black-and-white drawings are meticulously crafted from life, serving as templates for the finished paintings, a testament to her dedication to her craft.
