Jamie Isenstein was born in 1975 in Portland, US. From 1994 to 1998. she attended Reed College in Portland. Later, from 2002 to 2004, she studied at Columbia University in New York City. 

Throughout her career, Jamie Isenstein has received various accolades and grants, including First Place in the Creative Time Artist Sandcastle Competition in 2013, the Boomerang Fund for Artists Award in 2012, the Agnes Martin Fellowship Award in 2003, and the Arthur B. Davis Foundation Research Grant in 1998.
