Anna Schachinger
Anna Schachinger is a young contemporary artist from Vienna, Austria, who was born in 1990. She explores the boundaries of painting and extends them through a queer-feminist discourse on both material and visual levels. Schachinger received her diploma from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 2018, and she also studied at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago from 2010 to 2012. She participated in the maumaus study program in Lisbon in 2017.
Schachinger has held several solo and duo exhibitions, including 'Allover' at Lumiar Cité in Lisbon, Portugal and 'Aneinander' at SOPHIE TAPPEINER in Vienna, Austria, both in 2022. In 2020, she exhibited 'Disaster!' with Julia Goodman at SOPHIE TAPPEINER hosted by Zahorian & Van Espen Gallery in Prague, as part of SUMO, and 'Hitze' at SOPHIE TAPPEINER in Vienna, Austria. In 2019, she exhibited 'Desta Maneira Não' at Madragoa ENCIMA in Lisbon, Portugal, and 'Pensive State' with Irina Lotarevich at SOPHIE TAPPEINER in Vienna, Austria. In 2018, she held exhibitions such as 'Holderinnen' at Brennan and Griffin in New York, USA, and 'Lost in Thoughts' at fourteen30 in Portland, USA. She also exhibited 'alles' at lulu in Mexico City, Mexico, in 2017, and 'White Crocodile' at fAN Kunstverein in Vienna, Austria, in 2016.
In 2022, Anna Schachinger published her first artist's book, 'Treffen.'
Schachinger has also participated in various group exhibitions, such as 'Avantgarde und Gegenwart' curated by Luisa Ziaja at Belvedere 21 in Vienna, Austria, and 'A Minor Constellation' at Chris Sharp Gallery in Los Angeles, USA, both in 2022. In 2021, she exhibited 'Ernesto de Sousa, Exercises of Poetic Communication with Other Aesthetic Operators', curated by Lilou Vidal at Galeria Quadrum and Avenida da India Gallery in Lisbon, Portugal, and 'Avant-Garde and the Contemporary' at Belvedere 21 in Vienna, Austria, among others. She also exhibited 'Prince.sse.s des villes' at Palais de Tokyo in Paris, France, 'La peinture abstraite' at La Maison de Rendez-Vous in Brussels, Belgium, and 'Gertrude' at Loggia in Munich, Germany, all in 2019. She participated in exhibitions such as 'Use your Illusion' at Herald Street in London, UK, and 'At Large' at Reyes Projects in Detroit, USA, both in 2018.
