Alexandra Bachzetsis was born in 1974 in Zurich. Currently, she lives and works in Zurich and Basel.

Her impact on the art world is palpable, with significant exhibitions gracing esteemed galleries and museums across the globe. Her work has left an indelible mark on audiences worldwide, from the Kunsthalle Basel to the Tate Modern in London. 

In 2016, Bachzetsis's participation in "The Parliament of Bodies" and "Continuum" at documenta 14 garnered widespread acclaim. Her groundbreaking performance, "Massacre: Variations on a Theme," showcased at MoMA in New York City in January 2017, further cemented her reputation as a visionary artist pushing the boundaries of expression.

She has received several prestigious awards and nominations, including being a nominee for the DESTE Prize in 2011 and a laureate of the Migros Kulturprozent Jubilee Award in 2007. Additionally, she won the Swiss Art Award in both 2011 and 2016, as well as the Swiss Performance Prize in 2012.
