The art style of Tornike Chapodze

Chapodze's artwork is primarily rooted in painting, although he has also worked in various media, including sculpture and installation. One notable aspect of Chapodze's art style is his innovative use of gravure. In a compelling exploration of traditional gravure techniques, the artist challenges the media known for its graphical and linear appearance.

In his latest exhibition, "Flowers and Portraits (Gravures)" in E. A. Shared Space Gallery, Chapodze masterfully unites two distinct directions of gravure-making: the intricate art of Woodcut, also known as xerography, and the meticulous etching on metal. In addition to graphical compositions, Chapodze presents the translation of fluid and watery textures of watercolor into the sharp lines of gravure. These works are printed on hand-made paper, crafted by the artist himself.

Although "Flowers and Portraits (Gravures)" differs from Chapodze's previous focus on multi-media installations, his passion for multi-dimensional sculpture is still evident in his most recent series of works on paper.
