Biography of Thameur Mejri
Thameur Mejri, born in 1982 in Tunis, Tunisia, and currently residing and creating in Nabeul, Tunisia, emerges as a thought-provoking voice in contemporary art.
Mejri's artistic journey began with his education at the Institute of Fine Arts in Tunis, where he honed his craft and developed his unique artistic vision. Today, he shares his passion for art with the next generation as a teacher at the Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Nabeul.
In 2007, Thameur Mejri received an award "Best Experimental Short Film" at New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
He has exhibited his works at various international venues, including the 13th Cairo Biennial, Dakar Biennale of Contemporary African Art, and New York International Independent Film and Video Festival. His solo exhibitions have been held at MAC Lyon, the Kamel Lazaar Foundation, Selma Feriani Gallery, Gallery 1957, Elmarsa Gallery, and many more.
Mejri's artworks are featured in collections worldwide, such as the Barjeel Art Foundation, the Sindika Dokolo Foundation, the Dalloul Art Foundation, the Museum of African Contemporary Art Al Maaden, and the Kamel Lazaar Foundation.
