Biography of Steve Roden
Steve Roden was born in 1964 in Los Angeles, USA. He studied at Parsons in Paris in 1985. The next year, he received his BFA from Otis /Parsons in Los Angeles. Roden furthered his education, and in 1989 he obtained an MFA from Art Center College of Design Pasadena.
In 1993, the artist tied the knot with Sari Takahashi. The couple resided in the Park La Brea neighborhood of Los Angeles.
During his career, Steve Roden was honored with several awards, grants, and fellowships, including the Durfee Foundation Grant (2001), the California Arts Council Grant in Visual Arts (2003), the COLA Award (2004), the California Community Foundation Getty Fellowship (2008), and the Rauschenberg Residency (2016), among others.
Roden was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's disease in 2017 and passed away at his residence in 2023.
