Saiful Razman
Saiful Razman, born in 1980 in Perak, embarked on his artistic journey as a multi-disciplinary artist, gaining recognition for his distinctive gauze and tissue-paper collages. His artistic ethos revolves around the transformative power of repurposing disposable objects into meaningful artworks. Razman metaphorically assumes the role of an architect in his creations, reconstructing and restoring what appears damaged, thereby filling in the missing parts. Drawing inspiration from architecture, he duplicates existing structures envisioned by his mind's eye and translates them onto the surfaces he works on. Through his manipulation of materials such as medical gauze and tissue paper, Razman not only highlights the transient nature of objects but also reveals their inherent beauty in unexpected ways.
Saiful Razman's Art Style
Having earned a bachelor's degree in painting from Universiti Teknologi MARA in 2003, Razman has experimented with various artistic styles and techniques throughout his career. From pop-inspired collages to abstract oil paintings, where he experimented with color and patterns, his focus has now shifted toward everyday objects and disposable items. By manipulating materials such as medical gauze and tissue paper and reinforcing them with polyvinyl adhesive and polycrylic, Razman constructs larger surfaces for installations and collages on canvas, all while preserving their original features. This innovative approach underscores his dedication to exploring the simplicity of impermanence and finding beauty in the ordinary.
