Rhys Coren's Art Style
Coren engages in animation, writing, performance, and painted marquetry. His exploration of rhythm, color, and texture defines his work, featuring cartoon-like clouds, grids of color, shadows, and intricate line interplay. Influenced by music, Coren draws inspiration from the structures found in electronic dance music, jazz, and disco, which are central to his artistic expression.
Recently, the artist received a commission to create a nine-meter-long public artwork crafted from custom terrazzo, exhibited behind Bond Street Crossrail station in London. In 2018, he was commissioned to produce an animation for the Lumiere Festival in London. Titled "Love Motion," the animation was projected onto the Royal Academy of Arts building accompanied by a bespoke soundtrack.
