Perry Roberts's Art Style
Roberts' artistic creations incorporate traditional materials used by artists, such as cotton duck, flax canvas, wooden stretchers, and gesso, all of which carry the historical weight of Western painting. Remarkably, what Roberts' artworks lack is the painted image itself. The predominantly monochromatic nature of his pieces directs the viewer's focus toward the panels that compose them.
Perry Roberts is well-known for his captivating series called "Rare Earth Works," in which he showcases a collection of various minerals that, contrary to their name, are numerous but challenging to find. While the minerals may not be scarce, their birthplaces are indeed unique. These elements serve various purposes and are essential to modern daily life. The artworks emerge as a product of a specific yet unpredictable process, characterized by abstract qualities but visually intricate language.
