Naotaka Hiro
Naotaka Hiro was born in Osaka, Japan in 1972, and currently lives and works in Pasadena, California. He earned his BA from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1997 and his MFA from the California Institute of the Arts in 2000. His artworks are held in the collections of prominent institutions such as MoMA and The Whitney Museum in New York, as well as the Santa Barbara Museum of Art.
Hiro's works have been showcased in exhibitions at various venues including LAMoCA and The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Armory Center for the Arts in Pasadena, LAXART in Los Angeles, and Centre d'Art Contemporain La Ferme du Buisson in France, among others. He has also held solo exhibitions at several galleries including Herald Street in London, The Box in Los Angeles, Misako & Rosen in Tokyo, Brennan & Griffin in New York, and Shane Campbell in Chicago. Hiro has received grants and awards from the Art Matters Foundation and the Asian and Pacific Islander Artist Presenting Initiative.
