Christina Mackie

Christina Mackie is a contemporary British artist born in 1956 in Oxford, England. She is best known for her sculptures, installations, and works on paper.

Mackie received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins in 1985 and her Master of Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College in 1988. She has been exhibiting her work since the late 1980s and has had solo exhibitions at numerous institutions, including Tate Britain, the Chisenhale Gallery in London, and the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle.

Mackie's work often explores the relationship between objects and their surroundings, drawing on a range of materials and techniques to create sculptural installations that engage with the space in which they are situated. Her sculptures frequently incorporate organic and industrial materials, such as plaster, resin, rubber, and silicone, and often have a tactile, almost bodily quality.

In addition to her work as an artist, Mackie is also a lecturer and has taught at several institutions, including Goldsmiths College and the Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford.
