Valérie Blass
Valérie Blass (born 1967) is a Canadian sculptor known for her unconventional use of materials and her exploration of the human form. She received her MFA from Concordia University in Montreal, and has since exhibited her work extensively in Canada and internationally. Blass' sculptures often combine found objects and cast materials, creating a unique blend of the organic and the industrial.
Her works explore themes of transformation and metamorphosis, as well as the boundaries between the human body and the world around us. Blass has received numerous awards and honors for her work, including the Gershon Iskowitz Prize in 2015. Her work is included in the collections of several major museums, including the National Gallery of Canada and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
