Milton Machado
Milton Machado is a well-known Brazilian artist who began his career with drawing but expanded his repertoire to encompass objects, sculptures, videos, photography, and installations.
Milton Machado's Art Style
Milton Machado initiated his artistic journey amidst the Brazilian military dictatorship. He created drawings based on his architectural expertise, crafting pieces that appeared logical at first glance but concealed a subtle layer of irrationality and impracticality.
Over the ensuing decades, Machado continually broadened his artistic scope, scaling up his production to encompass objects, sculptures, videos, photography, and installations. All of his works revolve around a central theme, exploring the tensions evoked by artworks that challenge and disrupt factuality.
In his interventions, Milton Machado aims to capture and reveal to the viewer unexpected and unseen connections among seemingly disparate realms—like industry and art, architecture and image, family and politics—infused with an undertone of irony and disillusion.
