Biography of Maringka Tunkin

Maringka Tunkin's roots run deep in the artistic soil of Amata, where she was born and raised. The daughter of the late Kunmanara (Paniny) Mick and Mick Wikilyiri, esteemed painters at Tjala Arts, Maringka's journey into the world of art was practically predestined. Following her education at Yurara High School, Maringka returned to her hometown to immerse herself in the vibrant creative scene at the Tjurma Homelands Art and Craft Centre. Here, she honed her skills on canvas and explored the intricate art of batik.

However, it wasn't until 2007 that Maringka fully embraced her calling as a painter when she reunited with fellow artists at Tjala Arts. Since then, she has carved out a successful solo career, captivating audiences with her evocative works that reflect her deep connection to her culture and land.
