Maria Taniguchi
Maria Taniguchi is a contemporary Filipino artist known for her minimalist and conceptual approach to sculpture and painting. She was born in Dumaguete City, Philippines in 1981, and grew up in a family of artists.
Taniguchi studied at the University of the Philippines, where she earned a degree in Visual Communication. She then moved to London to pursue her art career further and obtained her MA in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London.
Throughout her career, Taniguchi has been interested in exploring the intersection of space, form, and time through her minimalist and abstract works. She is particularly known for her series of sculptural works made from concrete blocks, which she arranges in precise and repetitive formations to create dynamic and immersive environments.
