Lyota Yagi
Lyota Yagi was born in 1980 and currently resides and works in Kyoto. His artworks challenge our limited perceptual system and encourage critical thinking by exploring the idea that we only see and hear what we want to. Yagi often incorporates ready-made systems and tools to create phenomena that allow us to experience the intersection between human perception and engineering systems in new and unexpected ways. He works across various mediums including sound art, sculpture, video, installation, and interactive art to express his ideas.
Some of Yagi's solo exhibitions include "Taro Urashima's Space Odyssey" at MUJIN-TO Production in Tokyo, Japan in 2021, "Vessels for Memory" at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen, China and 5Art Space in Guangzhou, China in 2019, "MUSIC FOR LAZY SUSAN" at MUJIN-TO Production in Tokyo, Japan and "What is Essential is Invisible to the Eye: Works of Lyota Yagi" at ADM Gallery, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore in 2018, and "nightfall in UBUD" at Geijutsukan, Kyoto University of Art and Design in Kyoto, Japan and "META ARCHAEOLOGY" at MUJIN-TO Production in Tokyo, Japan in 2016
