Lauren Satlowski

Lauren Satlowski is an artist from Detroit, Michigan, who currently lives and works in Los Angeles, California. Satlowski has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Wayne State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Cranbrook Academy of Art. She has held several solo exhibitions, including "Watch the Bouncing Ball" at Bel Ami in Los Angeles and "Gadzinas Bell" at ODD ARK in Los Angeles. Satlowski has also participated in various group exhibitions such as "When the Sun Loses It’s Light" at Blum and Poe in Los Angeles and "My Secret Garden" at Asia Art Center in Taipei, Taiwan. Satlowski's work is included in the collections of ICA Miami, X Museum in Beijing, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Los Angeles Contemporary Archive.

Lauren Satlowski's paintings feature a prevalent psychedelic aesthetic that emerges from a sincere yearning for spiritual transcendence and a conscious manipulation akin to a puppet show. By creating a unique persona and environment, Satlowski allows her subjects to transcend their mass-produced origins and attain an iconic and singular status. As a result, the familiar objects that she portrays become hosts to the unknown, undergoing a transformative process that imbues them with a new and mysterious aura.

Her work has been presented in group exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York, Mexico, Europe and has had solo exhibitions at Embassy in Los Angeles and Wasserman Projects in Detroit. Satlowski lives and works in Los Angeles.
